Meet the Team – Matt Adams, Project Manager

Can you describe your role at Igloo?

I joined the team just over 12 months ago as Project Manager to oversee the planning and delivery of our refurbishment, fit out, and property maintenance projects across the Midlands and UK.

Having a background in hospitality, I have been able to implement a number of transferrable skills into the property maintenance and refurbishment environment such as people management, delivering on customer expectations and working to schedules of works.

Equally, I have seen my role evolve since joining as I have developed my project management skills and gained experience working in our key sectors of commercial property, office fit out, education and health care.

My main focus is co-ordinating the delivery of projects, ensuring our teams, sub-contractors and suppliers are on board with project requirements and timescales. This is combined with liaising with our customers to deliver on their needs and ensure that are kept updated on developments.

How have clients requirements changed in recent years?

The majority of our projects currently are focused on rolling out a client’s design specification across their property portfolio.

We are seeing a change in requirements in terms of clients having a greater awareness of the long-term value of on-going maintenance and refurbishment. As opposed to waiting for an area to become tired or unsuitable, they are investing in an ongoing replacement and refurbishment programs, providing better value for money.

What do you most enjoy about being with Igloo?

I enjoy the variety of the role with the majority of my time spent outside of the office, visiting client sites and liaising with the team to track the progress of projects.

Since joining just over 12 months ago, my role has evolved in terms of becoming more independent and deeper involvement in projects, from scoping out projects and measuring through advising on specifications, alongside the fundamentals of managing the team and subcontractors.

This variety and room to make the role my own is down to the growth of Igloo and having an agile, close, tight knit team.
